A Few Great Books for Baby
Some tips for reading to your baby:
1. Sturdy board or cloth books are best for young children, who love to grab and pull.
2. Read to your baby for short periods of time, serveral times each day.
3. Choose books with bright and colorful pages.
4. Take time while reading to snuggle with your baby.
5. Reading with enthusiasm and expression is a great way to engage your baby.
6. Be sure to hold the book 7-8 inches away from your baby's face so they can see the pictures.
7. Singing songs and chants is a fun way to enrich the reading experience.
Some tips for reading to your toddler:
1. Use board books until books with paper pages can be shared.
2. Use stories with sound, repetitive text, rhythm, and/or rhyme.
3. Show your child good book handling skills by modeling how to turn the pages.
4. Different voices and sounds in stories is a creative way to engage your toddler.
5. Read simple books to your child, many times throughout the day.
