Sewickley Academy’s Early Childhood program incorporates the Reggio Emilia approach in its pedagogy. This educational philosophy is rooted in the idea that learning should be curiosity-based and student-centered.

Exploratory play prepares our students for future learning, as it helps them to develop the senses and skills in small and large motor development, communication, thinking, and self-regulation. Early Childhood teachers thoughtfully plan the classroom environment, giving each student the opportunity to define their pace, express themselves, and develop academic confidence. Explicit instruction in literacy and mathematics is delivered alongside self-directed exploration of topics of interest.
