Performing Arts

Students of every age engage in performing arts at all Quaker Valley schools, taking form in the traditional, organized curricular or co-curricular programming such as broadcasting morning announcements, performing in the first grade, fifth grade, middle school and high school musicals to the unexpected, spontaneous or less traditional forms such as Odyssey of the Mind skits, mock trial activities, classroom videos and student movies.

In 2017-2018, middle school students performed The Wizard of Oz - Young Performers Edition and high school students performed Seussical. Edgeworth students performed Annie Kids and Osborne performed Aladdin Kids.

Over the years, the Quaker Valley High School musicals have been entered in the Gene Kelly Awards competition for high school musicals. In 2015, Samantha Selleck won the Best Supporting Actress award for her role as Mrs. Tottendale in The Drowsy Chaperone. In 2014, QVHS earned five nominations for Pirates of Penzance. Rachael Houser received the Best Actress award in the 2013 Kelly Awards for her portrayal of Reno Sweeney in Anything Goes.

Quaker Valley High School alumni have gone on to successful careers in theatre, film, opera, television and broadcasting. They credit their Quaker Valley experience in the performing arts and music education for providing the exposure, foundation and support for their passions and eventual careers.
