Policies

The Quaker Valley Board of School Directors is a legal body created by the statutes of the commonwealth. Board members are state officials receiving their responsibilities and powers through state law. Individual board members have no authority over school affairs as individuals but have authority, within the law, over school affairs when they serve as a legal body.

In all cases where the state laws do not provide or prohibit, the board is considered the agent responsible for establishing and appraising educational activities. In general, the board is responsible for policymaking, with the advice of the superintendent, and for the evaluation of policies.

Alert: The Quaker Valley Board of School Directors and the administration have begun an extensive review of the school district’s Board Policy Manual.  Over the next 12-18 months the Board will write, revise (re-number), review, and/or adopt every policy in the district’s manual.  Therefore, the references and cross-references to other policies may not accurately reflect all current policies.  We apologize for this inconvenience while the policy manual is under construction.  Should there be questions or assistance needed with respect to a school board policy, please contact Christina DeAngelis, Board Secretary, at [email protected].
