Speaking at School Board Meetings
Community communication with the School Board is essential. We welcome and encourage residents and taxpayers to attend our open Board meetings to stay informed of school district matters.  The meetings generally occur twice a month and begin at 7:00 p.m.  They are held at Edgeworth Elementary School.  Dates, locations, and agendas can be found under the School Board section of our website.  Should it be necessary to change location, updates will be posted on the District website as well as Edgeworth Elementary.

The Board will offer a forum to listen to residents' and taxpayers' opinions on issues they are considering.  An opportunity for public comment is offered at each meeting.

  • The first opportunity to speak is at the beginning of Board Meetings. This agenda item, called “Community Relations”, is 30 minutes set aside by the Board to recognize school personnel, students, or community members and to hear residents speak about agenda items, voting items, or other relevant school matters.  Each speaker may address the Board in person once, for up to three (3) minutes, on any topic. At the end of 30 minutes (unless extended by the Board), the Board will move forward with the meeting’s agenda.
  • At the end of every Board Meeting, community residents will be allowed to speak for up to three (3) minutes. This session shall not exceed 15 minutes (unless extended by the Board).

Further information can be found in Board Policy 903

We ask that all attendees show courtesy and respect to everyone present and request that all statements be directed to the entire Board.  School Board Meetings are a time for the Board to hear from the residents and taxpayers of Quaker Valley, but not necessarily a time for discussion with the public.  Please know that dialogue with the Board will be limited during meeting times.  Additionally, the Board will not discuss personnel at an open Board Meeting.  Persons may request an appointment with the Superintendent or her designee to review such concerns.

Should you wish to speak at a Board Meeting, please call the Board Secretary at least 24 hours before the meeting in which you wish to speak. Residents will be assigned to speak in the order that they registered.  The individual will be asked to give their name and municipality when called upon to speak.  If you do not write in advance, and as time permits, the floor will be opened to any resident of the District.  All speakers are asked to complete a participation card with contact information so that their comments can be accurately recorded in the minutes and, if necessary, can be contacted by the Board or administration when follow-up is appropriate.
