QV Teams Compete in CalcuSolve Competition

Fifth and sixth grade teams from the Quaker Valley Middle School and Osborne and Edgeworth Elementary Schools participated in the annual CalcuSolve math competition hosted by Duquesne University on Wednesday, November 7, 2018.  Students from school districts throughout the region competed in this event that was sponsored by the Allegheny Intermediate Unit.   

The competition included nine rounds of very challenging math problems. Seven problems were solved individually, and two questions were answered as a group.  Awards were given for outstanding individual and team performances.  Sixth grader, Henry Zutter, earned third place for his individual score. 

The following students participated in CalcuSolve: 

6th graders: Sienna Albano, Colin Benge, Andrew Denk, and Henry Zutter 
Edgeworth Elementary: Tyler Bell, Patrick Connors, Emma Currier, Bella DeLuca, Aiden Dwyer, Reagan Eichert, Dominic Pogue, and Maren Webb 
Osborne Elementary: Rachel Bartels, Natalie Iliff, Lily Millet, and Sophia Smith
7th and 8th graders who competed Thursday morning include: Meera Kumar, Milo Hasak, Isabella Murano, Hudson Colletti, Ben Collins, Aiden Carver, Oliver Graham, Brahm Gianiodis
