QV Students Learn About Fire Safety

On Friday, October 5, 2018, students at Quaker Valley took part in Fire Safety Day. Under the coordination of QV's Safety and Security Director, Officer Aaron Vanatta, firefighters from seven different departments stopped by Edgeworth and Osborne Elementary Schools. The students learned from firefighters about the importance of smoke detectors, changing the batteries in the detectors, and what to do in case of a fire. All four schools also practiced fire drills. Five QV students, who are also junior firefighters, had the chance to teach their classmates about fire safety. Thanks to Ben Fichtl, grade 9; Jack Farnan, grade 12; Eddie Ondek, grade 8; Hayden Dobsch, grade 11; and Sean Mariner, grade 9.
