Quaker Valley Welcomes New Superintendent

At a special legislative session on Thursday, May 31, 2018, the Quaker Valley School Board voted unanimously to hire Dr. Tammy Andreyko as the district's new superintendent. Dr. Andreyko will start on Monday, August 6, 2018.

"We are extremely pleased to welcome Dr. Andreyko to QV as our new superintendent," School Board President Sarah Stoessel Heres said. “We conducted a thorough search and interview process, and Dr Andreyko's robust academic background and experience make her a great fit to lead the district as we continue with our shared vision for the future.”

Dr. Andreyko joins Quaker Valley after spending 21 years at North Allegheny School District, most recently serving as Assistant Superintendent overseeing curriculum and instruction, assessment, professional development, technology integration and comprehensive planning. She was also a principal at Ingomar Middle School and a classroom teacher in Chesapeake, Virginia and Stow, Ohio.

"This is an amazing opportunity, and I am truly grateful to serve the Quaker Valley School District and join this team of talented and caring educators,” says Dr. Andreyko. "Building upon a tradition of excellence, I am dedicated to making the community’s mission and vision grow for the young people in QV. I pledge to work tirelessly for the district’s continued success and embrace the new high school of the future.”

Dr. Andreyko holds a Doctorate degree from the University of Pittsburgh, has a letter of Superintendent’s Eligibility from Gannon University, a Master of Science in Human Resources Management from La Roche College, a Master of Science in Educational Administration from Old Dominion University, and a Bachelor of Science in Education from Kent State University.

In addition, she served as an adjunct faculty member at La Roche College.

“A special thank you to all of the stakeholders who contributed input through the search process. More than 400 replies to the survey helped guide the board throughout this search process,” adds School Board Personnel Daniela Helkowski.

The new superintendent’s contract is a five-year agreement with a starting salary of $168,000.

Current Quaker Valley Superintendent, Dr. Heidi Ondek, looks forward to welcoming and supporting her longtime Western Pennsylvania colleague. “I believe Dr. Tammy Andreyko is a wonderful addition to the district and will promote strong leadership for the community through all of the exciting opportunities ahead. I am committed to assisting with the transition as Dr. Andreyko acclimates to the district and community.”

The Quaker Valley School Board recognized the time commitment and importance of a superintendent search by utilizing the Allegheny Intermediate Unit consulting services. The board was gratified by the strong interest in the QV position by so many impressive, highly talented school leaders. The school board will appoint an acting superintendent at the June legislative meeting to fill the gap between Dr. Ondek’s departure and Dr. Andreyko’s arrival.
