Quaker Valley School Board Director Stratton Nash Honored

Long-serving school directors are honored across Pennsylvania by the Pennsylvania School Boards Association (PSBA). Now in its 40th year, the PSBA Honor Roll Program has been redesigned to recognize school board leaders earlier in their terms, with school directors now receiving recognition beginning at five years of service.

Stratton Nash, a member of the Quaker Valley School District Board of School Directors, received a certificate recognizing five years of dedicated service during the October 21, 2026 Legislative Meeting, adding him to the PSBA Honor Roll of School Board Service.

"I'm just really honored, not because I am receiving this, but because I am able to give. I am grateful," said Mr. Nash after receiving the award.

Throughout his tenure, Nash has demonstrated his commitment to Quaker Valley through active participation in Board meetings, committee work and school and community events. He currently serves as chair of the Board's Communications and Student Life Committee and as a member of the Policy and Government Affairs Committee.

Nash has also served on the Board's Finance and Personnel committees and represented Quaker Valley as vice chair to the Parkway West Career and Technology Center. In 2022, he was appointed as the District's voting delegate to the PSBA Delegate Assembly, contributing to statewide discussions on education policy, regulations and legislative priorities.

During a presentation at a Quaker Valley Board meeting, Nash was recognized for his dedicated volunteer service to students, the community and public education. His recognition reflects the longstanding tradition of school board leadership in Pennsylvania, where the commitment to public education dates to the state's first constitution in 1776. The Pennsylvania Free School Act of 1834 further established the state's role in public education and marked the beginning of elected school board governance in the nation.

"Now more than ever, we need to focus on our students' success, which school directors do so tirelessly," said Becky Dussinger, PSBA's senior director of member outreach. "It is complex, demanding and hard work, and the commitment that they make alongside all their other responsibilities is admirable. These school leaders give so much of their time, it is inspiring. The Honor Roll is PSBA's way of saying thank you to these leaders for their commitment to their community and for their work to make their school a better place."

Quaker Valley School District congratulates Nash on this milestone and extends its sincere appreciation for his continued leadership, volunteerism and dedication to the students and families of Quaker Valley.
