2011 Boys Cross Country

The 2011 season was one of the most successful and defining years in the history of the storied Quaker Valley High School boys’ cross-country program. Coached by David Noyes, the Quakers established themselves as the premier Class AA cross country program in the state of Pennsylvania. In that season the Quakers secured the WPIAL (District 7) Class AA championship, marking their fifth consecutive WPIAL crown in an eventual six-year championship streak (2007–2012). The team went on to capture the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Class AA boys team state championship at the Hershey Parkview Course winning in commanding fashion with 90 team points (a 91-point margin over the runners-up).  Hallmarks of that and many successful teams during the streak were outstanding leadership. Roy Hadfield won the WPIAL individual championship, with teammate Nat Fox taking the silver medal. That team also included future Quaker Valley Hall of Famer L.J. Westwood. The team’s dominant postseason was built around exceptional depth and tight compression among their top five scoring runners, consistently finishing ahead of top Class AA competition across western Pennsylvania and statewide invitationals.
