Quaker Valley Teams Compete in STEM Design Challenge

Fifth and sixth grade teams from the Middle School and Osborne and Edgeworth Elementary Schools participated in the annual STEM Design Challenge event on March 20, 2026.  Students from school districts throughout the region competed in this event sponsored by the Allegheny Intermediate Unit.

In this year’s challenge, elementary and middle school students focused on designing a section of a factory that produces a product using sustainable practices. They needed to create a prototype that showcased how their functioning machine works and how it supports environmentally responsible production. Each team had to share a blueprint of their prototype and a design notebook; they also had to give a 2-minute presentation. Judges from Thermo Fisher Scientific scored prototypes and project components, and awards were distributed to the three highest-scoring teams in each division. Congratulations to the Edgeworth team, who scored in second place at the event!

Congratulations to all our Quaker Valley STEM Designers!
