Quaker Valley is proud to celebrate an extraordinary professional achievement by Mr. Mike Pastor, whose leadership and expertise in AP Psychology have earned national recognition.
For more than 15 years, Mr. Pastor has been engaged in professional learning through the College Board AP Psychology program. Over that time, he has served as an AP Reader, Table Leader, and Question Leader at the annual AP Reading. He also works each summer as a College Board consultant, providing professional development for new and experienced AP Psychology teachers across the country. In addition, he currently serves as an AP Psychology exam question writer. These experiences have not only shaped his professional growth, but have also enriched the classroom experience for Quaker Valley students.
In mid-March, Mr. Pastor received the news that he has been selected to serve on the AP Psychology Development Committee for the next three-year cycle.
This highly selective committee is made up of just four high school teachers and four college professors from across the country. Its members play a key role in revising the AP Psychology curriculum and helping develop the annual AP Psychology exam, making this an especially significant honor.
"I feel extremely honored to be chosen to serve on the AP Psychology Development Committee," said Mr. Pastor, as he shared his gratitude for the opportunity. "In this role, I look forward to participating in the creation and revision of the AP Psychology curriculum as well as the preparation of the annual AP Psychology exam. I look forward to continued professional growth and to the many benefits that this can bring to my students and students around the world."
Mr. Pastor’s selection reflects both his dedication to his profession and the excellence of teaching at Quaker Valley High School. His work on the national level will help shape the future of AP Psychology while continuing to benefit students here at home.
