Quaker Valley's KD Quiz Team was successful in their attempt to qualify for KDKA's KD Quiz Playoffs by winning their first round matchup which aired on KDKA on March 21. You can watch a replay of the episode on Saturday, March 28 at 11:30 a.m. on KDKA. KD Quiz is an academic challenge hosted by KDKA weatherman Ray Petelin.
The Quaker Valley team earned 425 points, defeating both North Catholic and Trinity Christian High Schools. This is the 9th year of the last 11 that Quaker Valley has qualified for the KD Quiz Playoffs! The team will participate in the KD Quiz Playoffs this Spring. The air date of the playoff episode is not yet known but will be published when the schedule becomes available. Congratulations to the QV Team!
The Quaker Valley “on-screen” team is comprised of seniors Finnegan Musial, Charlotte Liao, and Katherine Linge. Seniors River Capek and Samy Ketata serve as team alternates. The team is coached by high school math teacher Matt Welch. This is the 21st consecutive year Quaker Valley High School has taken part in KDKA's signature game show.
The half-hour show pits three high school teams, which are comprised of three students each, against one another. Students must answer questions from a variety of general high school curriculum subject areas. The top nine schools in the competition are awarded educational grants provided by GBU Life.
