Quaker Valley Students Compete in Annual CalcuSolve Event

Fifth grade teams from Osborne and Edgeworth Elementary Schools as well as sixth grade teams from the Middle School participated in the annual CalcuSolve math event on Thursday, December 11th.  Over 350 students from nearly 30 districts throughout the region competed in these events that were sponsored virtually by the Allegheny Intermediate Unit.

The competitions include nine rounds of very challenging math problems.  Seven problems were solved individually, and two questions were answered as a group.  Awards were given for outstanding individual and team performances.  In the individual competition, Patrick Craske earned 2nd place overall and Parker Eldridge earned 3rd place. Way to go Patrick and Parker!  

Henry Johnson, Patrick Craske, Taylor Turan, James Burns, Kile Raymond, Aalika Farrell, Peter Mouas, and Logan Kobert competed from Edgeworth Elementary.

Ewan Bahr, Maretta Bahr, Kellan Moore, Adelaide Norton, Nathan Picarsic, Maya Rengers de Souza, Elise Taiclet-Canada, and Hudson Young represented Osborne Elementary.

Parker Eldridge, Dalton Hairston, Jake Hatton, Emmy Long, Allie Moyer, Ben Moyer, and Caleb Scharf represented the Middle School.
