Quaker Valley School Board Recognized by Tri-State Area School Study Council

Congratulations to the Quaker Valley School District’s School Board being chosen for the 2023 University of Pittsburgh’s Tri-State Area School Study Council Distinguished School Board Award.

The school board was honored on March 16, 2023 during the 74th Annual Distinguished Educator and School Board banquet. The event was held at the University of Pittsburgh’s University Club and was a wonderful celebration of the incredible work the Board does for young people.

At the event, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Andrew Surloff introduced the attending school board members and highlighted their accomplishments.

Quaker Valley's award recognized the implementation 1:1 technology in all schools K-12 and the hiring of Instructional Technology Specialists to provide support and professional development. The Board also a new Director of Facilities to lead the charge with providing safe and welcoming learning environments for our students, and lead the planning and construction of a new high school. It is apparent that innovation, engagement, and sustainability are at the core of the work they do for our community.

School board member Geoffrey Barnes spoke on behalf of the Board, sharing how grateful the Board was for the recognition, as well as their appreciation for the collegiality between the board and administration.
