Two Quaker Valley teams, representing Edgeworth and Osborne Elementary Schools, competed in the Science Bowl held at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History on Friday, March 10, 2023. Quaker Valley students completed preliminary in-class competitions to qualify to attend the Science Bowl. The teams that represented QV were:
- Edgeworth Elementary fifth graders: Caitlin Hart,Carson Skaggs, Olivia Chapman, and Alex Moyer
- Osborne Elementary fifth graders: Darcy Hicks, Maggie Mysliwiec, Owen Weisberg, and Markus Yancheski
Each team completed three different challenges, including Put a Label on It! in the Hall of Wildlife, Form and Function in the Foster Overlook, and Identi-Dino in the Dinosaurs in their Time exhibit. Teams also had the opportunity to explore additional exhibits in the museum galleries.
The Allegheny Intermediate Unit sponsors this academic event for schools in our region.
Congratulations to the Edgeworth fifth grade team, who scored 82 out of possible 90 points, earning them a first place finish!
