Quaker Valley Middle School Students Honored with Writing Awards

Quaker Valley Middle School students were encouraged to participate in the Waldmann International Arts and Writing Competition this year. This competition allowed students to expand on the themes of the QVMS seventh-grade social studies curriculum, utilize primary source documents, practice online researching skills, and respond creatively.  This year's theme was "Resilience".  Students were asked to use true stories of victims and survivors of the Holocaust to examine how individuals found strength both during and after the war.

Congratulations to seventh-grade student award winners:

This program was made possible through a grant received by Quaker Valley Middle School through the LIGHT Education Initiative in the summer of 2020.  LIGHT programming supports teacher professional development and provides students with resources and opportunities to connect to community members through themes within human rights and genocide, like being an upstander, making responsible choices, social and environmental justice, kindness and love, and volunteerism.
