QVHS Students Hosting STEAMQV

Following several months of preparation, QVHS students of various physics classes took part in a Sea, Air and Land competition on April 24 at Seneca Valley High School. The competition consisted of specific challenges geared toward each of the following areas: Sea, Air, and Land, and each teams’ robot had to complete a specific task based off of real life scenarios such as firefighting, and search and rescue.

Overall, Quaker Valley teams in the competition built functioning robots which impressed the judges, along with students and teachers involved in the competition.  While not all groups were able to complete all of the challenge tasks, several groups received awards thanks to their outstanding performance in the challenge. Congratulations to the Yellow Submarine team who received a first place award for their robot, and air team The Last Airbenders, whose drone won the Innovation and Design Award.

In an effort to teach and show what these students have learned, the various Quaker Valley High School science classes are hosting STEAMQV, an event which encompasses science projects from chemistry, biology, physics classes and more, to showcase the creativity and innovation happening at the high school. Anyone interested is invited to attend STEAMQV on Wednesday,  May 22 in the Quaker Valley High School Gymnasium between 9:30-11 a.m. and again between 12:45-2:15 p.m.
