ImPACT Testing

ImPACT Testing for 2026-2027

The ImPACT test is a concussion testing tool designed to help diagnose and manage concussion progress. Every athlete in required sports must complete a baseline concussion test prior to the start of the sport season your child wants to participate in. This is so that, in the event of a head injury, a Post-Injury ImPACT test will be administered and the results will be compared to the Baseline in order to diagnose whether a concussion is present. It is imperative for this reason that your child does their best on the Baseline.

Swimming (Divers ONLY)
Baseball, Softball

Middle School:
Football
Cheerleading

ImPACT testing is done at home. The test is compatible with iPad or other tablet, laptop, or desktop computer. It is NOT compatible with smart phone. Testing takes around 30 minutes and should be completed in a quiet, calm area where the athlete is completely free from distractions. NO CELL PHONES OR TELEVISION SHOULD BE PRESENT.

Complete the test. At the end of the test, a confirmation screen will appear. Enter the student’s or parent’s email to be sent a confirmation of completion email. For High School Student-Athletes:

Baseline tests are valid for 2 years, starting from the date of the most recent Baseline. Traditionally, that means the following grades require testing:

Incoming 7th graders
Incoming 9th graders
Incoming 11th graders

Additionally:

8th graders who did not attend/play sports at QV last year
Any student who is transferring into QV this year (regardless of whether you took an Baseline at your old school).
Any student who is either playing sports for the first time, or is playing an ImPACT-required sport for the first time.

However, since many students take this test as-needed, it is suggested you keep track of your child’s most recent ImPACT Baseline date. Arbiter will also alert you when you need a new test.
