Quaker Valley Senior Miguel Pinho Named 2025 School Board Graduating Senior

Known for his intellectual curiosity, leadership, and compassionate spirit, Miguel has embraced every opportunity to grow, while uplifting those around him. He thrives in environments that challenge him academically and has distinguished himself through a diverse range of pursuits in and beyond the classroom.

A driven and innovative learner, Miguel participated in the ACE Mentoring Program, gaining hands-on experience in architecture, construction, and engineering. He furthered his academic interests by taking part in the Westinghouse Science Honors Institute and earning a SMART Robotics Technician Certification from Carnegie Mellon University and the ARM Institute.

His talents also extended into the world of artificial intelligence. At the Carnegie Science Center’s AI Bootcamp, Miguel led a team that won the capstone competition by designing Serenitya therapy chatbot geared toward supporting males with mental health needs.

Miguel’s initiative and vision sparked real change at Quaker Valley High School. He proposed the idea of a STEM Academy, a concept that played a critical role in the development of the school’s Future-Ready Academy Program. He also co-founded the Latino Club alongside Señora Williams, creating a space for celebration, dialogue, and cultural connection.

In addition to his academic and extracurricular achievements, Miguel is a respected leader known for his empathy and inclusivity. Whether guiding new students during 8th grade orientation or contributing to Positive Behavioral Support Initiatives, Miguel consistently promotes a welcoming and encouraging school culture. His thoughtful and articulate contributions have left a lasting impression on students and staff alike.

Miguel is a student who exemplifies our District’s mission statement,” said Principal Deborah Riccobelli in Miguel's nomination. “He has leaned into unique experiences to design his own educational path, while paving the way for others to shape their best future.”

This fall, Miguel will attend Virginia Tech, where he plans to study Industrial Engineering.
