Quaker Valley Adds Fourth Officer to Police Department

Quaker Valley School District welcomes Ms. Lauren Porupsky as the newest member of the Quaker Valley School District Police. The Quaker Valley School Board unanimously approved her appointment 9-0 on Tuesday, September 19, 2022.

Porupsky will be stationed at Osborne Elementary beginning in late September, resulting in Officer Thomas Liberty to be permanently stationed at Edgeworth Elementary. Porupsky also joins Officer David Watts at Quaker Valley Middle School and Chief of School Police Aaron Vanatta at Quaker Valley High School.

“We are excited to welcome Officer Lauren Porupsky join Quaker Valley as the school police officer at Osborne Elementary,” said Chief of School Police Aaron Vanatta. “Officer Porupsky brings with her a wealth of experience from Gill Hall Elementary School in the West Jefferson Hills School District where she has been keeping children safe for the last 5 years. She comes highly recommended as someone who is able to build rapport with students, build rapport with parents, and build rapport with the school faculty and staff. Officer Porupsky plans to be a mentor to students and hopes to bring her expertise to the classroom at QV while educating students on a variety of safety topics.”

In addition to her service at West Jefferson Hills School District, Porupsky also served with the Pleasant Hills and City of Clairton Police Departments. While working in the West Jefferson Hills School District, she worked closely with the Life Skills staff, conducted ALICE staff training, and worked with students on a variety of programs.

Officer Porupsky addressed the Board at Tuesday’s meeting: “I’m really looking forward to starting. Being around kids and protecting them is the most important thing I could ever do for our youth. I want to thank you for the opportunity, and I’m looking forward to seeing everybody.”
