Quaker Valley Hires New Baseball and Softball Coaches

Welcome Richard Garbee and Jason Cappa who were named Varsity Baseball Coach and Varsity Softball Coach, respectively.

Richard Garbee joins Quaker Valley with experience both coaching and playing many sports. He played soccer, basketball, and lacrosse at the collegiate level with University of the South, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He also completed the Harvard Business School Program for Management Development. Previously, he coached basketball, soccer, baseball, and softball with a variety of Quaker Valley youth sports groups.

Garbee is a parent in the district with four children making their way through the ranks at Quaker Valley. As a new retiree, he is anxious to fill his days working with the team and building their program.

Jason Cappa currently serves as the Varsity Football Coach and will now also be the Varsity Softball Coach. In addition to serving both teams, Jason is an educational paraprofessional with the District, working with Life Skills students at the High School. He also recently served as the middle school softball coach.

Cappa has a degree in elementary education with a minor in athletic coaching from Clarion University of Pennsylvania as well as a master’s degree in educational leadership and is working on a master’s degree in special education. Cappa attended Riverview High School in Oakmont, PA, where he was a three-sport athlete and the first All-State Football player in school history. He has spent time coaching at OLSH, Riverview High School, Shady Side Academy, and Penn Hills Charter School of Entrepreneurship.
