Quaker Valley Sophomore Wins $20,000 Prize in App Building Contest

Congratulations to Paige Frank, who won the CGI I.T. Girl Challenge. Paige teamed up with Tomi Olaore through the Boys and Girls Club of Western PA, and developed GradeUp, a mobile app that gives students a platform to communicate and help each other with schoolwork to help create better study habits.

Participants were tasked with using Thunkable to create an app that could help solve a problem. Paige and Tomi wanted to do something to help students struggling due to COVID-19.

While they knew they had a good app, Paige said she was surprised to learn judges picked their app as the best. Paige and Tomi will split the $20,000 scholarship. When asked what she plans to do in the future, Paige says she is leaning toward a career in computer science.

Congratulations to Paige and Tomi!
