QVMS Art Students Work with German Artist-in-Residence

Quaker Valley Middle School Artists have a special Artist-in-Residence in the classroom. During February and March Karina Smigla-Bobinski is working with QVMS art teacher Danielle Thomas. Smigla-Bobinski is a freelance, interdisciplinary artist in Munich, Germany. She is in Pittsburgh through a program with the Education Department at the Mattress Factory Museum. Currently she has an interactive sculpture on display at the Mattress Factory. Based on how visitors interact, Smigla-Bobinski's sculpture draws on the walls, ceiling, and floor of the gallery. While at QVMS, Smigla-Bobinski encouraged students to create their own interactive and collaborative "drawing machines." The artist-in-residence program will continue through March 7th.
