Graduation Ceremonies Thursday evening have been postponed until Friday at 7 p.m.
QVHS Commencement will now take place on Friday, June 11 at Chuck Knox Stadium at 7:00 p.m. The stadium will open at 5:45 p.m., and all guests must be seated by 6:45 p.m. Parking will be limited to only families of seniors. The District will provide a shuttle from Edgeworth Elementary School for all other guests.

Please note that logistics are subject to change based on COVID-19 guidelines in place on the day of commencement.

Mandatory Graduation Practice
- All seniors participating in commencement are required to attend a mandatory practice on the morning of June 10.
- Students must arrive at Chuck Knox Stadium at 8:45 a.m.
- Practice will be from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.
- In the event of rain, practice will take place in the QVHS Auditorium.
- During practice, students will note their locations on the field to share with families.
Caps, Gowns, Stoles, and Tassels
- All seniors must wear the school-issued graduation cap, gown, stole (a white piece that goes over the gown), and tassel.
- Seniors must wear black business-casual or dress clothing for any part showing under the hem of the gown (i.e., pants, skirts, dresses).
- Seniors should wear black shoes and avoid extremely high heels or stilettos since we will be on the turf field.
- Seniors are not permitted to wear jeans, shorts, flip-flops, or ragged tennis shoes.
- Seniors may not decorate caps.
Commencement Ceremony: June 10, 2021, at 7:00 p.m.
- Seniors participating in commencement must arrive at the school and report to the QVHS auditorium between 6:00 – 6:10 p.m. Students must be dropped off or come with a parent/guardian (students may not drive and park separately – please see parking information below).
- The ceremony will be livestreamed using this link.
- All students, staff, and administration participating in commencement must wear a mask/face covering. The school is providing seniors with “Class of 2021” masks (will be distributed on the evening of graduation).
- Seniors will remove their face coverings as they walk across the stage to receive their diploma (seniors will only receive a diploma cover; the actual diplomas will be mailed home the week after commencement).
- Mr. John Doucette is donating his time and photography services to take photos of the graduation ceremony. Each graduate will have a photo taken while they receive their diplomas. The photos will be available for free download from Mr. Doucette’s site.
Rain Dates
- In the event of inclement weather, the district has set the following rain dates: Friday, June 11, 2021, at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, June 12, 2021, at 5:00 p.m., Saturday, June 12, 2021, at 7:00 p.m.
- The District will notify seniors and families of any ceremony cancellations and rescheduled dates using phone and text messaging and posting on the QVSD website.
Guest Information
- At this time, the District is not requiring tickets for the Class of 2021 Commencement. The Wolf Administration lifted some mitigation efforts, including event and gathering limitations, beginning Monday, May 31, 2021. If Pennsylvania or Allegheny County makes changes to gathering guidelines, the district will make adjustments accordingly.
- Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis – no assigned seating or required distancing.
- Guests requiring handicapped seating should fill out this form. On the evening of commencement, district staff will assist with guiding those guests to appropriate handicapped seating locations on the evening of commencement.
- The stadium will open at 5:45 p.m., and all guests must be seated by 6:45 p.m.
- All guests are required to wear face masks.
Parking
- Given the shortage of parking at QVHS/Chuck Knox Stadium, we will be limiting parking to only families of seniors. Each graduating senior will receive one parking pass that will be distributed with caps and gowns. Students with dual mailing will receive two parking passes.
- Students are not permitted to drive and park at QVHS on the evening of the ceremony (must be dropped off or arrive with their families), including graduating seniors and members of the QVHS band and choir.
- On the evening of commencement, families will show the parking pass to obtain entrance into the school parking lot. QVSD Staff will assist with directing families to parking spaces, including those who need handicapped parking.
- The District will provide a shuttle from Edgeworth Elementary School for all other guests.
- For graduates' safety from the school to the stadium, the parking lot will close to all guests at 6:45 p.m.
Health and Safety
- The concession stand will not be open, so we suggest guests bring water with them.
- The school will provide seniors with water.
- Restrooms will be available for use.
- A health tent will be available if anyone needs medical assistance.
- An ambulance on standby in the event of emergencies.
