On Friday, June 21, Quaker Valley staff members filled a school bus with books and traveled around the QV community delivering the free books to students and families through program called BookStop.
Kindergarten teacher, Andrea Croft said she was excited to learn a lot in their first BookStop. A goal of the program is to promote healthy eating through health education books and to get parents reading to set examples for their children.
Quaker Valley School District teamed up with the Sewickley Public Library to make the BookStop a success. The stops included: The Sewickley Valley YMCA, Plum Street Park, Henle Park in Leetsdale and the Community Center Pool on Chadwick Street.
During the event, about 600 books were handed out to 300 members of the community. A special thanks to Monark Student Transportation for donating the bus. Click here for photos from the event.
