QV's Dr. Jeff Evancho Selected to Present at MIT
Quaker Valley's Dr. Jeff Evancho has been selected to present at two different sessions at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Connected Learning Summit this summer.
The Connected Learning Summit represents a merger between three community events with this shared vision and values: the Digital Media and Learning Conference, the Games+Learning+Society Conference, and Sandbox Summit. With a unique focus on cross-sector connections and progressive and catalytic innovation, this event brings together leading researchers, educators and developers.
Evancho’s first session is a symposium which will highlight QV’s leading role in innovative professional development, specifically taking a look at maker education and will examine four separate national studies.
"This symposium aims to incite dialogue about how, why, and what it means to learn to teach through making. I will be sharing insights and lessons learned about our city-wide professional learning community, Agency by Design," Says Dr. Evancho.
One of Dr. Evancho's presentations will be on Documentation and Collaboration of Teaching and Learning Practices, "Aparna Wilder and I are working on a concept where teachers document their practice of Teaching and Learning with Virtual reality so that others (students, parents and colleagues) can “virtually walk thorough their practice”. QV teachers Matt Littell and Erik Lindemann are the first to have completed virtual experiences and have done all the hard work of documentation." adds Evancho.
We are looking forward to highlighting the innovative and leading role Quaker Valley has established on the national stage for providing personalized and quality education for all.
