Quaker Valley Wins in KDKA's Hometown High Q Quarterfinals, Advances to Semifinals:
Quaker Valley's Hometown High Q Team was successful in their attempt to qualify for KDKA's Hometown High Q Semifinals by winning their quarterfinal playoff matchup which aired on KDKA on April 28 and May 5. Hometown High Q is an academic challenge hosted by KDKA morning anchor Rick Dayton.
The Quaker Valley team earned 460 points while defeating Upper St. Clair and Hampton High Schools. This is the 3rd time in the last four years that Quaker Valley has reached the semifinal round of the show. In addition, Quaker Valley has made the High Q Playoffs for 5th consecutive year! The team is comprised of seniors Jake Musial, Annika Christensen, and Michael Parker along with alternates Natasha Napolitano and John Corbett. The team is coached by high school math teacher Matt Welch and assisted by academic specialist Linda Conlon. The team will now move on to the High Q Semifinals in June. The air date of the playoff episode is not yet known but will be published when the schedule becomes available. Congratulations to the QV Team!
