Remote Grading Video

Dear QVMS Students, Parents, & Guardians,

On Tuesday, March 31, Quaker Valley will move to an asynchronous remote learning platform due to Pennsylvania’s mandated school closings. The asynchronous approach will allow students to work on lessons and assignments each day at their own pace, rather than having to meet with specific teachers/classes at a designated time of day. All middle school students will engage in each of their courses via Schoology; however, they will follow a unique A-Day/B-Day schedule with different courses occurring each day.

Below you will find two items: 1) A Remote Learning Cheat Sheet for QVMS and 2) a QVMS Suggested Student Schedule. Both items will be helpful to students as they begin to organize their school day. Please notethe provided schedule is only a suggestion and students have the ability to work at their own pace on any given day. We fully recognize that families are working through an incredibly difficult time and may not be able to adhere to this exact schedule. Regardless of the individual schedules of our QVMS families, students should focus on the learning opportunities that are provided to them on the scheduled A-Day/B-Day rotation. All students will remain in their Quarter 3 related arts classes – we cannot shift to Quarter 4 classes at this time.

To ensure that students have plenty of time to complete assignments and engage online with their teachers, we purposefully crafted a suggested schedule that contains 1-hour time slots for each course. Please note: teachers are not planning 1 full hour of instruction per course, per day. Again, we are cognizant that the move to remote learning is a major shift for students, parents, guardians, and teachers. We simply provided students with a suggested schedule that included as much time as possible to engage in learning. All teachers will be available from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each school day for “Office Hours”, regardless of the A-Day/B-Day schedule.  Students and teachers may use this time to engage with one another virtually during the school closure. Students, parents, and guardians may email teachers at any time outside of the scheduled “Office Hours”. Emails sent to teachers outside of the “Office Hours” timeframe will be responded to within 24 hours.

We sincerely appreciate your kindness, concern, and partnership during these unique times. We hope that you and your family are well and we look forward to seeing all of you soon!  Stay healthy!

Thank you,

Student attendance:  Students in grades 6 – 12 will check-in for daily attendance through an app on their iPad. When students check in on this app, their attendance will be recorded with a date and time stamp.  Students should check in daily before 8:00 p.m. Middle school students who do not have the app on their iPad for some reason, should communicate directly with Mrs. Wick, who will record attendance for them. wickp@qvsd.org
