The Quaker Valley School District community is extending a helping hand to families on the East Coast who were devastated by Hurricane Sandy. In addition to Quaker Valley’s four schools, businesses and community organizations are encouraged to participate in this service project.
Each of the district’s four schools is participating through a variety of means including flier distribution and special events. Quaker Valley Middle School Student Council recently raised $854 through a “Hot Chocolate & Hats for Hurricane Sandy” event. Each morning, student council members sold hot chocolate for $1 and for one day students could wear a hat in school in exchange for their $1 donation.
Donations should be made payable to Quaker Valley Cares and forwarded to Donna Adipietro at Quaker Valley High School. Ms. Adipietro will also be traveling to each school throughout the week to collect contributions from school events. All monies will be donated to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. Donations will be accepted through Jan. 7, 2013.
If you have questions or would like to get involved, please contact Mrs. Adipietro at 412-749-6021 or 412-292-0224.
