DUQUESNE UNIVERSITY - In the fall of 2010, four academically talented and motivated freshman chemistry or environmental chemistry students will be selected and invited to participate in the Bayer Scholars Program. This program includes: personalized course work; original research projects both at Duquesne and at the Bayer Material Science Pittsburgh Campus; funded summer research experiences at Duquesne; paid summer internships at Bayer; Mentoring by both Duquesne science faculty and Bayer professionals; and, significant tuition scholarship support.

MIAMI UNIVERSITY - 2010 Bridges Program - Bridges is an all expense paid (housing and meals), selective overnight visit program for academically ambitious high school seniors (class of 2011) from all over the United States. Students who successfully complete the Bridges program and apply for admission to Miami for Fall 2011 will receive a $50 admission application fee waiver. Successful participants will also receive a $2,500, four-year renewable scholarship if they are accepted and enroll at Miami University’s Oxford campus for Fall 2011. We will host three Bridges sessions this year. Session I will take place Sunday and Monday, November 7-8, 2010 with transportation provided from Akron, Cleveland and Toledo, Ohio. Session II will take place Sunday and Monday, November 14-15, 2010 with transportation provided from Chillicothe, Cincinnati, Columbus, Dayton, Hamilton and Middletown, Ohio. Session III will take place Sunday and Monday, November 21-22, 2010 with preference given to students who live out-of-state.We invite your students to learn more about Miami University through the Bridges program. This is an opportunity for students to visit our campus, spend time in a residence hall, participate in an academic class, tour campus, eat in the dining halls, and interact with current Miami students, faculty and staff. This program will highlight opportunities and resources for students from historically underrepresented populations on Miami’s campus. Application criteria includes:
:: High school students graduating in 2011

:: Minimum of 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale or top 25% of graduating class

:: College prep curriculum

::Demonstrated leadership/co-curricular involvement

:: Students from underrepresented populations or students who have a commitment to promoting a deeper understanding of and appreciation forcultural diversity.

UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH @ JOHNSTOWN - Fall Open House dates - September 18, October 2, 16, 23, & November 13, 2010. Get your application fee waived.

RENSSELAER invites academically talented rising seniors, who are underrepresented minorities or young women, to apply for the STAR (Science, Technology, Arts at Rensselaer) program. Students accepted to participate in the STAR program will receive a confirmation packet from Rensselaer. The STAR program begins the evening of Thursday, October 28 with a dinner reception and concludes Saturday, October 30 at the close of the Fall Open House. Weekend activities include: interactive leadership activity, academic experience, undergraduate research overview and tour of laboratories, campus tour, students panels, student organizations and clubs fair, lodging and meals with current students. Students may apply online.

UNIVERSITY OF ROCHESTER - On October 29-30, the University of Rochester will be hosting Engineering & Applied Sciences @ Rochester, an exciting event designed specifically for students interested in these fields: Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Optics, Technical Entrepreneurship and Management (TEAM).
