8/19/2010 - Union Aid Scholarship - This scholarship is endowed by a grant from the Union Aid Society and Marjorie Dods Saunders in memory of her mother. It is a need-based scholarship awarded annually to a high school senior with a minimum 3.0 grade point average who is a resident of the Quaker Valley School District. The award for the 2011-12 school year is $4,000. $2000 will be paid in August 2011, and $2000 will be paid in January 2012. The student must verify that he/she continues to be enrolled in college and is in good standing to receive the second half of the scholarship.
3/23/2010 - Wendy's High School Heisman Scholarship - This year, applications will be available early. This is
for male or female students who excel in academics, athletics, and
student leadership. This year all student athletes who work hard, are
dedicated, and have become role models for the school's underclassmen
are eligible. Online applications are available at
www.wendysheisman.com.
Eligibility is limited exclusively to men and women entering their
senior year of high school in the 2010-2011 academic year who have at
least a "B" grade average and participate in at least one
school-sponsored sport. Eligible students can register and begin the
application process. Gift cards range from $5 to $50. Deadline for applications is 5:00 p.m. Central
Time on October 3, 2010.
3/2/2010 - New Economy Technology Scholarship Program - This is for students who are pursuing high education and training in science, technology and allied health fields. Two different scholarships - the SciTech Scholarship and the Technology Scholarship - are awarded through this program. Students must maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA, must commence employment in PA in a field related to a NETS approved program of study within one year after completion of studies. Applications are available in the OCA. Deadline is December 31, 2010.
1/18/2010 - National Federation of the Blind of PA Scholarship Award - If you are a legally blind person who will be a full-time student during the 2010-2011 school year, you are encouraged to apply for these scholarship opportunities. There are thirty national scholarships awarded annually ranging from $3,000 to $12,000. The NFB of PA also offers two $1,000 scholarships. Scholarships are awarded based on academic excellence, community service, and financial need. Applications are available in the OCA. Deadline is August 31, 2010.

Bill of Rights Essay Contest - The National
Foundation for Women Legislators and the National Rifle Association are
co-sponsoring their 13th annual essay contest for female, high school
juniors and seniors entitled "Freedom and Civic Virtues". The contest's
seven winners will each receive a $3,000 college scholarship and an
all-expenses-paid trip to NFW's Annual Conference at The Ritz Carlton
Grande Lakes in Orlando, Florida where they will network with, be
mentored by, and speak to hundreds of women lawmakers from across the
United States. More information and applications are available in the

Abbott and Fenner Scholarship Program - Students
will submit an essay on the topic that appears on the scholarship page

Masonic Scholarships - There are several scholarships
available to Masons, their siblings, children, grandchildren and
members of the Masonic-related youth groups. The resource guide is

Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity - This is for three
scholarships for freshman males entering The University of Pittsburgh
next year. This is for students who strive to achieve balance,
all-around excellence, as we believe it to be essential in achieving a
satifying college experience and life. Applications are available in
the OCA. Deadline is June 20, 2010.
Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores' Own Your Look Prom Contest 2010
- Jo-Ann has created an opportunity for 10 students to receive cash and
prizes, with a top prize of $50,000 and a $1,000 Jo-Ann gift card.
Entrants must make their own prom outfit, including an accessory, with
fabric and other products from Jo-Ann. Details are available at

Continental Building Systems Charities Fund Scholarship
- This is for graduating seniors with a 3.0 GPA or higher pursuing a
four-year, post secondary education. Selection criteria is financial
need, academics, and character. Applications are available in the
OCA. Deadline is May 31, 2010.
North Hills Ebony Women Scholarship - Two $750
scholarships are available to two minority high school seniors who
exhibit academic and community excellence. Student must: plan to enroll
full-tiime at an accredited postsecondary institution for the fall,
2010 semester, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8, and demonstrate
academic and community excellence. Applications are available in the
OCA. Deadline is May 15, 2010.
Perino Insurance Agency Scholarship - This $1,000 scholarship
is for seniors who have participated in at least three extracurricular
activities throughout his/her high school career, must possess a strong
work ethic, positive attitude, and leadership qualities. Must also be
accepted to a college/university or vocational school program.
Applications are available in the Office of Collegiate Affairs.
Deadline is May 12, 2010.
Jamie Ellenberger Scholarship Program - To be
eligible for this $1,000 scholarship, the candidate must be in his/her
senior year of high school, and in good academic standing, must be
qualified and planning to attend an accredited two or four-year post
high school education program, must complete the application form and
have it signed by their guidance counselor, must complete a 500-word
essay in response to the Essay Discussion Question, and if requested,
the candidate must participate in an interview with the Passavant
Memorial Homes Foundation's Scholarship Review Committee. Applications
are available in the Office of Collegiate Affairs. All applications
must be received by 5:00 p.m. May 3, 2010 in order to be considered
for the scholarship
The Kris King Achievement Award - This is a $500
scholarship to a graduating senior in the class of 2010. The
scholarship can be used to help defray costs for either college or a
training/technical school. Interested students must be accepted to a
college, university or trade school by May 1, and are asked to craft a
slogan in support of organ donation which will be used on a local
billboard. Students may submit up to 5 slogans on a single sheet of
paper. Kristopher was able to support other's lives by being an organ
donor upon his death. The winning slogan will be chosen by a committee
of family members and a QV representative, and will appear on a billboard promoting organ donation. Slogans must be submitted
to Mrs. Frank in the Office of Collegiate Affairs by May 3, 2010.
Irene S. and Harry Louik College Scholarship -
This is for seniors who demonstrate special aptitude, ability or
achievement in one or more of the performing arts and/or be committed
to furthering appreciation of the performing arts. Student must be
planning to attend a two or four-year accredited college or university,
must complete an application and include a one-page essay on How you
anticipate that your future involvement with the performing arts will
contribute to building audiences for the performing arts. Applications
are available in the OCA. Deadline is May 15, 2010.
2010 Freddie Fu Sports Medicine Scholarship
- This is for students with an interest in sports medicine who will be a senior in September, 2010. One $2,000
scholarship will be awarded to a selected individual in return for a
six-week summer internship (forty hours per week, six weeks in a row,
starting date is negotiable) at the Center for Sports Medicine of the
University of Pittsburgh Medical Center on the South Side. The
recipient must have transportation to the clinic. Applications are
available in the OCA. Deadline is April 17, 2010.
Robert Hartley Scholarship - This is for a graduating senior
who is passionate about photography, multimedia, or journalism. This
is for $1,000. Applications are available in the Office of Collegiate
Affairs. Deadline is April 15, 2010 to the Office of Collegiate
Affairs.
Constance T. Rockwell Theater Arts Scholarship -
This award (minimum $4,000) is based on each student's talent,
financial need, scholastic merit, and school and community
involvement. Prior to applying, the student must have applied to an
accredited college, university or conservatory that offers a four-year
program with a requisite audition. Applications are available in the
OCA. Deadline is April 19, 2010.
Junior League of Pittsburgh offers an annual scholarship to
female graduates of Allegheny County public and private high schools.
The award is for $2,500. Candidates must have at least 100 hours of
verified volunteer service during high school and a cumulative GPA of
3.0 or better. This must be used for continuing education at an
accredited college or university during the 2009-10 academic year.

Deadline is April 23, 2010.
Leetsdale Garden Club Scholarship
- This is available for Quaker Valley High School seniors who are legal
residents of Leetsdale and who reside within the Borough of Leetsdale.
A scholarship will be awarded to one or more Leetsdale residents who
are planning to further their education upon graduation at a two or
four-year college or university or an accredited school that will grant
a certificate or a license in a chosen field. Scholarship proceeds must
be used to defray tuition expenses at the student's school of choice,
and/or for other academically-related expenses. The $1,000 award may be
given as a lump sum to one applicant or may be divided between more
than one applicant. Deadline is April 8, 2010. Applications are

Union Aid Society/Dods Scholarship - This is a
need-based scholarship for a student with a minimum 3.0 GPA. The
award is $4,000. Applications are available in the OCA. Deadline is
April 9, 2010.
Adam E. Kostial Scholarship - The family and friends
of Adam Kostial are offering this scholarship in honor of Adam, who was
the vice-president of the QV Class of 2002. To qualify for this
scholarship, the student must be a member of the graduating class of
the Quaker Valley High School, plan to attend a four-year accredited
institution of higher education as a full-time student in the fall
following graduation, major in Computer Science, Information
Technology, or some type of engineering, (preference will be given to
those with a computer major, though all eligible are urged to apply),
have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher through the first senior
trimester, and must have participated in an interscholastic sport and
earned a varsity letter. The award is $2,002. Applications are
available in the OCA. Deadline is April 30, 2010.
Dominic T. Roppa Memorial Scholarship - To apply for this
scholarship a student must be a Quaker Valley High School senior
earning a 2.5 cumulative GPA through the end of the second trimester of
their senior year, have two faculty recommendations (one may be from a
coach) and one from a member of the community, participate in varsity
interscholastic athletics, and send a high school transcript.

George Gaspar Memorial Scholarship - To apply for
this scholarship, the student must be a graduating senior, a marching
band member, and write a short essay titled "The Responsibilities of
Friendship." The essays must be turned in to the Office of Collegiate
Affairs by April 9, 2010.
Landmarks Scholarship - To apply, students must be
accepted to a college/university; have a GPA at the end of the first
semester of 3.25 or greater; must write an essay, provide a transcript,
a copy of his/her college acceptance letter. The award is based on a
student's academic achievement, community service, work experience,
financial need, and interest in the history, architecture, and/or
landscape design of the Pittsburgh region. Applications are available
in the OCA. Deadline is April 23, 2010.
Louise Salinger Academy of Fashion Fund Scholarship
- This is for students with an interest in pursuing a career in fashion
design. Students must demonstrate financial need and must submit an
application and two letters of reference. Applications are available in
the Office of Collegiate Affairs. Deadline is April 28, 2010.
William C. Comptaro Educational Fund Scholarship
- This is for seniors who plan to attend college or an accredited
career or technical school located in the U.S. that is classified as
tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Students must demonstrate financial need, complete an application form
and include an essay, not to exceed 200 words, highlighting information
about themselves, for example, academic performance, interests, career
objectives and future goals, and must submit two letters of reference.

William J. Wolf Memorial Scholarship - This is for
students who are of the Lutheran denomination, maintain good grades,
demonstrate financial need. Applicants must complete an application,
include an essay, an official transcript, a letter of reference, a
letter from your Pastor and copy of parents' tax return. Applications
are available in the OCA. Deadline is April 14, 2010.
Melville Alexander Eberhardt Memorial Fund - To apply for this
scholarship, students must be a graduating senior, plan to attend a two
or four-year accredited college or university, demonstrate financial
need, maintain a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, and complete an application
and include a 500-word essay discussing the impact you wish to make to
society through your career goals and how your major will be the
vehicle to drive that impact to fruition. Applications are available
in the Office of Collegiate Affairs. Deadline is April 14, 2010.
Anna N. Dosen Serbian Educational Fund Scholarship -
To apply for this scholarship, students must be of Serbian background,
must be planning to go to a two or four year accredited college or
university, and must be majoring in the field of science (health
sciences and engineering). Students must complete an application and
include a one-page essay explaining why you chose your particular field
of study and what accomplishments you hope to achieve in that field.
Applications are available in the OCA. Deadline is April 28, 2010.
Women's Achievement Club Scholarship - Applicants
must be African American college-bound seniors. Students must be
accepted to a two or four-year accredited institution of higher
learning and must demonstrate academic achievements with a minimum GPA
of 2.5. Applications are available in the OCA. Deadline is April 26,
2010.
PA Assn. of Medical Suppliers (PAMS) -
This is a $1,000 scholarship for a deserving student who has overcome
physical challenges with the help of home medical equipment and
supplies such as wheelchairs, respiratory devices, etc. Applications
are available in the OCA. Deadline is April 23, 2010.
ASPIRE Scholarship - To apply, college-bound seniors
must apply online at www.aspireprogram.com and click on "Apply for
ASPIRE's 2010-2011 Program".
Pittsburgh Italian Scholarship Fund - Criteria for this award
are as follows: Student must demonstrate excellent academic
performance, must demonstrate financial need, must have at least one
parent of Italian heritage, and must successfully complete an interview
with the Board of Directors. Applications are available in the Office
of Collegiate Affairs. Deadline is March 31, 2010.
Beulah Frey Environmental Scholarship - These
scholarships are awarded to graduating high school seniors who are
interested in furthering their studies in an environmentally-related
field. Eligible seniors are those applying to two or four-year colleges
and universities who are majoring in an environmental area of study.

Ralph B. Canterbury Scholarship - There are 10
$1,250 scholarships available. Applicant must be a member of Clearview
Federal Credit Union. It's easy and there is no cost to open an

First Commonwealth "Time to be First" Athletic Scholarship
- This is for any high school senior graduating in 2010 that has
participated on an athletic team or club. Applicants are asked to write
a brief (500 words or less) essay describing why it is their time to be
first -- first at college, first in the community, first in athletics.
Applications are available in the OCA. Deadline is April 2, 2010.
Dr. Jonathan E. Hottenstein Memorial Scholarships - This $1,500 scholarship is for a graduating senior who will be attending a two-year
college. Applicants must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher and must
demonstrate involvement in his or her school and community. The
student must be pursuing post high school training in the medical
technology field such as medical assisting, x-ray technology,
ultrasound technician, LPN or medical transcription. There is also a
$1,500 scholarship for graduation seniors who will be attending a four-year college.
Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and must demonstrate
involvement in his or her school and community and must be planning a
post high school education in the field of science in a four-year
institution, such as pre-med, chemistry, engineering and biology
majors. Applications are available in the OCA. Deadline is March 22, 2010 .
West Hills Area Women's Club Scholarship -
Applicants must be female with a cumulative GPA pf at least a 3.25 or
better through the first semester of the senior year. Applicant must
be entering a college in the fall of the 2009 term as a full-time
undergraduate student in a college or university in the U.S. that holds
an accredited commission on higher education. Student must have a type
written response essay question not to exceed 250 words, and complete
the additional questionnaire in a legible manner. Students must also
demonstrate financial need. Applications are available in the OCA.

National Association of Women in Construction CAD/Design/Drafting Scholarship Award Competition
- LOCAL AWARDS: $200/First Place, $100/Second Place, $50/Third Place;
NATIONAL AWARDS: $1,500/First Place, $1,000/Second Place, $500 Third
Place. This contest provides recognition to students for creative
design, successful problem solving, and craftsmanship in preparing
architectural drawings and renderings. Drawings may be submitted in the
category of "Hand Drafting" or "CAD Drafting". (MALE AND FEMALE
STUDENTS MAY ENTER.) Applications are available in the Office of
Collegiate Affairs. Deadline is March 11, 2010.
Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity - This is a
national co-educational honors fraternity dedicated to a tripod of
ideals...scholarship, leadership, and fellowship. The Alpha Omega
Chapter at the University of Pittsburgh is offering a $300 scholarship
for graduating high school seniors. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0
GPA and have plans to continue their education at the college or
university level. Interested students should fill out the application
(available in the OCA), and submit an essay demonstrating how they have
incorporated the ideals of Phi Sigma Pi in their lives. Deadline is
March 5, 2010.
Lola G. Duff and Wm. H. Duff II Scholarship Program
- This is for a student who has attended two academic years in, and
graduated from, a high school in Allegheny County, or has been home
schooled in Allegheny County for two academic years including the
senior year. Student must be protestant and a high school senior who
plans to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study leading to
a bachelor's degree at an accredited four-year educational
institution. Merit applicants must have a cumulative GPA of at least
3.0 on a 4.0 scale and Need Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of at
least 2.8 on a 4.0 scale. Applications may be obtained at

Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year - This award
recognizes outstanding scholar athletes in grade 12. Judging is based
on academic performance, athletic excellence, leadership, community
service and what role milk plays in their success. Applications and

Kohl's Kids Who Care Scholarship - Nominees for
this award are divided into two age groups: ages 6-12 and 13-18.
Volunteer efforts must have occurred in the last year. Winners are
chosen based on the project, benefits and outcome. More than 200
regional winners will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship and ten national
winners will receive a total of $10,000 in scholarships. Deadline is
March 15, 2010.
The Chamber of Commerce, Inc. Educational Scholarships
- This is for three $1,000 scholarships and they are available to any
senior seeking a post-secondary education including those attending
technical schools. Deadline is March 15, 2010. Applications are

Hispanic Scholarship Fund - To apply, students must
have a minimum 3.0 cululative GPA and have plans to enroll as a
full-time student in the fall of 2010. For more information, visit

2009 Pepsi Hispanic Heritage Month Program -
PepsiCo is offering 30 scholarships to assist with undergraduate and
graduate studies, including five scholarships worth $4,000 each, and 25
scholarships worth $500 each. Applicants must submit paperwork by March

Robert Morris University B. Kenneth Simon Free Enterprise Scholarship -
This is valued at $24,000 and is awarded ove rthe course of four years
of study to an incoming freshman. Students must demonstrate financial
need, be sponsored by a faculty member, possess a 3.0 cumulative GPA,
and have a combined minimum SAT score of 1100 (math and critical
Reading parts only) or 24 ACT. Applications are available in the Office
of Collegiate Affairs. Deadline is February 26, 2010.
PSECU Pennsylvania State Employees Credit Union - To qualify,
students must be a PSECU member by Thursday, December 24, 2009. If a
student is a member, applications may be obtained by calling

Edgar Snyder & Associates "Words to be Heard" essay contest -
This is a $2,500 scholarship to a graduating high school senior. Second
place winner gets $1,000 and the three runners up will get $500 each.

Kiwanis Scholarships - This is for students who have
demonstrated leadership qualities and/or who have participated in
community service organizations and/or activities. Applications are

Hightower Scholars, Inc./The Clarence James Memorial Scholarship -
This scholarship provides financial assistance to a first year African
American, Hispanic, or Native American college student. Students must
be a high school senior with a 3.50 cumulative GPA and must have held a
leadership role in a community organization or activity. Applications
are available in the OCA. Deadline is March 1, 2010.
Negro Leagues Committee (NLC) - The NLC was formed in
an effort to research and preserve the history of African-Americans in
baseball. Essay topics and more information is available in the OCA or

19, 2010.
Central Scholarship and Loan Referral Service - This
service provides need-based scholarships to local undergraduate and
graduate Jewish students. Any Jewish high school senior, college or
graduate student with demonstrated financial need is eligible to
apply. Applications are available online at
http://www.centralscholarship.org. Deadline is February 8, 2010.
KFC Colonel's Scholars - To apply, students must be
maintaining a minimum high school cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher,
must be enrolling in a public, in-state college or university, and must
be pursuing a bachelor's degree. This could mean up to $5,000 per year
for tuition, fees, books, and room and board. Applications are
available online at www.kfcscholars.org. Applications will be available
December 1, 2009 through February 10, 2010.
National Commission for Cooperative Education - To apply,
student must have a high school GPA of 3.5 (B+) or better, must
complete the application including a typed one-page essay describing
why you have chosen to pursue a college cooperative education program.

PACB Foundation Scholarship Program - This provides
scholarships to children of PACB member institutions' employees and
directors. This is available to high school seniors who are planning to
attend an accredited college, university, or community college on a
full-time basis. Applications are available in the Office of
Collegiate Affairs. Deadline is February 6, 2010 to the Office of Collegiate
Affairs.
Quaker Valley Education Association Scholarship -
This is for
seniors and is given through donations from teachers representing all
of the schools in the Quaker Valley School District. The two awards
given each year are worth $1,000 each. This year a third scholarship of
$750 will be given in memory of Robby Hague. Robby is a 2003 QVHS
graduate and the son of Susie Abercrombie and Robert Hague, Sr., a
Quaker Valley High School faculty member. In order to apply for the
QVEA
scholarships, a student must meet the following requirements: be a
senior having completed 4 trimesters at QV High School; enroll in a
post-secondary experience not limited to college, work, military, and
or vocational training; and, interview with the QVEA Scholarship
committee. Consideration for one of the scholarships will be given to
a student pursuing training or a degree in teaching. Applications are

2010.
Young Epidemiology Scholars Competion - Win one of
120 scholarships of $1,000 to $50,000. To enter, students must submit a
research project that sheds light on a health problem, using the
methods of analysis employed by epidemiologists. Deadlline is February
1, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. More information is available at

National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame -
This is for high school students with high academic achievement,
financial need, athletic ability at the varsity level, and anticipated
June, 2010 graduation. Applications are available in the OCA.

Blackwood Music Scholarship - These scholarships
are available to high school students intending to pursue a career in
instrumental music performance. Students will be required to
participate in a personal interview and audition before a panel of
professional musicians of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and to
perform at a recital at the Frick Art and Historical Center.

Owen M. Katz High School Scholarship - This
scholarship is awarded to an outstanding high school senior who wishes
to pursue a career in the metals or materials field and enrolls in a
related college program. The scholarship is $1,500. Applications are

Scholarships for the Congressional Seminar National Essay Contest
- This contest is open to students in 10th, 11th, and 12th grades.
Essay must be typed, double-spaced approximately 500 words. Essay title
is "Discuss a major supreme court decision you believe to be pivotal in
our nation's history". More information and applications available in

National Scholarships Available for Seniors -

2010 PA American Legion 75th Annual Essay Contest -
This contest will consist of two parts. An 8-10 minute, memorized
oration will be given on some phase of the U.S. Constitution and a 3-5
minutes extemporary oration on one of the four "assigned topics"
assigned by National Headquarters. First place winnter will receive a
$7,500 scholarship, plaque and expense-paid trip to the PA American
Legion State Convention to present his/her winning oration, plus the
opportunity to represent PA in the National and Regional Contests and
receive an additional $1,500 scholarship from the National

National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution
- This is for seniors who demonstrate qualities of a good citizen from
each eligible school. It honors outstanding seniors who demonstrate

30th Annual High School Writing Contest - Categories
are ESSAY, FICTION, and POETRY. First place prize is $100, 2nd place is
$50 and 3rd place is $25. Write a personal essay, labeled ESSAY, on a
topic of your choice of no more than five double-spaced, typed pages.
Write a short story, labeled FICTION, of no more than five
double-spaced, typed pages. Write a poem of no more than 50 lines.
Entries must be typed. Stories and essays must be double spaced. More
information is available in the OCA. Deadline is December 18, 2009.
Pennsylvania JCI Senate Scholarship Program - This
is for 2 $500 scholarships. These two recipients' applications will be
forwarded to the U.S. JCI Senate Foundation for consideration to also
receive one of fifteen national $1,000 grants. The application is
available online at www.usjcisenate.org. Under "main menu" click on
"scholarship" and then on "Pennsylvania" in the list of states.
Deadline is January 5, 2010.
Pennsylvania Elk State Association "Most Valuable Student" Scholarship
- This contest is open to students in the graduating class of 2010.
Students who qualify for final consideration usually have a scholarship
rating of 90% or better and stand in the upper 10% of their class. The
scholarships are for one year only with the exception of the top 250
boys and 250 girls nationally, who will be eligible for the Special
Four-Year Awards. To find an application or your correct lodge, go to

Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) -
This "Freedom in Academia" high school student essay contest is an
opportunity for seniors to practice, develop, and hone their writing
and research skills, with the chance to win up to $5,000 in college
scholarships. Students will write an in-depth essay explaining why
free speech and First Amendment rights arae crucial to higher education
and how abuses of these rights harm the college experience. First
place award is a $5,000 college scholarship and the winner will be
featured on the FIRE and CFN websites and will receive an all-expense
paid invitation to the 1020 Campus Freedom Network Conference in
Philadelphia. Second place: Two students will each receive a $2,500
college scholarship; and, Runners-Up: Five students will each receive a
$1,000 college scholarship. Winners will also receive exposure on the

Saint Vincent College Wimmer Scholarship Competition -
This is for seniors who have achieved academic scucess as evidenced by
a GPA of 3.5 or higher. The competition offers a top prize of a full
tuition, room and board scholarship. The competition is comprised of
an exam that includes subject matter in English, Mathematics and
general knowledge. Students may register online of by calling the
admissions office by November 13. More information available in the

Annual Mary L. Stone Black College Tour Essay Contest - Students must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Applications are available in the OCA. Deadline is November 9, 2009.
AES Engineers Scholarship - This $500 award is based on the answer to one of the essay questions that may be found at http://www.aesengineers.com/scholarships.htm. Deadline is October 6, 2009.
Western PA Golf Assn. Scholarships - Applicants must have
worked a mnimum of two seasons. Caddies, Clubhouse, Golf Course
Maintenance, Golf Shop, Swimming Pool, and Tennis employees are all
eligible provided they meet the standards of academics, employment,
extra-curricular activities, and financial need. These scholarships
are worth about $3,000 per year in tuition. The Evans Scholars Foundation Scholarships
from the Western Golf Assn. are exclusively for caddies. Although most
of the students from this area attend the main campus at Penn State
University on Evans Scholarships, other schools in the Big Ten and
throughout the country are also available for deserving candidates.
The value of these scholarships is significant--full room and tuition.
The room, other than at Penn State, includes resident in the houses
owned by ESF on the nearly 20 campuses around the country. Both
scholarships have a deadline of September 20, 2009. Applications are available in the Office of Collegiate Affairs.
Play With Passion Scholarship - To apply,
applicants must be a graduating high school senior or planning to
attend an accredited college, junior college, university, technical
school, or trade school in the fall. Students must have a GPA of 2.5
or higher, must have a varsity letter, and a reference letter from
their coach. A minimum of $1,000 will be awarded to the scholarship
winner. Deadline is 12:00 noon, May 18, 2009.
Adam Kostial Memorial Scholarship - This scholarship is for
$2,002. To apply for this scholarship, students must be a member of
the graduating class of Quaker Valley High School, plan to attend a
four-year accredited institution of higher education as a full-time
student in the fall, major in computer science, information technology,
or some type of engineering, have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or
higher through the first senior semester, have participated in an
interscholastic sport and earned a varsity letter, and have no known
criminal record. Applications are available in the Office of
Collegiate Affairs. Deadline is May 1, 2009.
Will to Win Scholarship - This includes not only
athletes, but all high school seniors who are outstanding, disciplined,
determined and successful in managing their asthma. Scholarships of
$5,000 will be awarded to two deserving high school seniors in each of
the following five categories: Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Community
Service, Athletics, and Science. Students must hold a minimum
cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. Applications are available in
the OCA. Deadline is April 30, 2009.
Student-View Scholarship - Scholarships available
are 1 $4,000 scholarship, 1 $1,000 scholarship, and 4 $500
scholarships. Student must be planning to attend a four-year college,
community/junior college or carer school. NO minimum SAT/ACT scores or
GPA, NO essay, NO lengthy application forms, NO application fees. Log
on to www.student-view.com and complete a 15-20 minute application
survey about colleges in your area. Deadline is April 19, 2009.
The Ambrose Smith Scholarship - This is for
children and grandchildren of Post members in good standing. These
scholarships are to be awarded to 2009 high school seniors who will
attend college or other business, technical, health care and art
schools. Applications are available in the OCA. Deadline is April 15,
2009.
Oliver L. Johnson & William A. Lester Families Fund Scholarship
- This is for qualified African American students having been born in
one of the African countries of Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria,
Senegal-Gambia, Zaire, Kenya, or Cameroon. Student must have been a
resident of Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Washington, or
Westmoreland County for at least one year prior to the date upon which
the scholarship would first be applied. Student must be planning to
attend a two-or four-year accredited college or technical school and
must have a cumulative GPA over grades 9-12 of 2.5. Student must
demonstrate financial need and complete an application and include a
300 word essay setting forth the factors that have contributed to both
your successes and failures in life, mentioning any specific
individual(s) who has provided you with a positive role model. Include
your vision of the goals toward which you would like to strive upon the
completion of your formal education. Applications are available in the

ACT High School Poster Contest - Design a poster
(including visuals and a tag line) that from your perspective
encourages students to attend college and to take the ACT as their
college entrance exam. First place winner will receive a certificate
and a $5,000 nonrenewable scholarship to the college of choice. Second
and third place winners will receive $2,500 and $1,000 scholarships.

Northern Allegheny County Chamber Educational Foundation Scholarship
(for seniors pursuing a vocational education) - Four $1,000
scholarships will be available for the 2009 graduates with a minimum

Epilepsy Foundation of Western/Central PA - This is
for students who have epilepsy or seizure disorder. This is for five
scholarships of $1,000 each. Students must provide proof of acceptance
to a post-secondary academic or vocational program. Students must
attend school full time in the 2009-10 school year. Applications are
available in the OCA. Deadline is March 27, 2009.
Veterans Leadership Program Scholarship - This year
there will be two $1,500 scholarships. Applicant must be a descendant
of a veteran (parent, grandparent, or guardian was/is a veteran), and
must be a high school senior. Submissions should be typewritten and
should not exceed 500 words. Essays will be judged on content,
creativity, structure and grammar. The scholarship must be used to
pursue a Bachelors degree, Associates degree or a certificate program
at an accredited institution. More information is available in

PenSPRA Scholarship - Pennsylvania School Public
Relations Association is announcing its annual scholarship contest.
Scholarships will be awarded to six worthy high school students who
plan to pursue a career in a communications field (Journalism, English,
Public Relations, Advertising, Graphic Arts, etc.). Each scholarship
is worth $500. Entry forms and contest rules are available at
www.penspra.org. Deadline is March 13, 2009.
Cubby Bearer Scholarship - This scholarship
recognizes an Eagle Scout who is enrolled (or plans to enroll) at the
University of Pittsburgh and who has demonstrated high character,
leadership ability, and financial need. This is a $2,500 scholarship.

Rotary Club of Pittsburgh - Applicants must have a
3.2 GPA or higher and must be applying to a college/university.

S.E.P.P./Lawrence E. Dunegan M.D. Memorial Merit Scholarship
- This is open to seniors attending a school located in Allegheny
County and who plan to attend an accredited U.S. four-year college or
university. The applicants must be students in good standing. The
value of this scholarship is $2,000 per year, renewable for three (3)
years for a total amount of $8,000. A $1,000 one-time award will also
be provided to the leading runners-up. Applications are available in
the Office of Collegiate Affairs. Deadline is March 1, 2009.
CORE (Center for Organ Recovery & Education) -
This scholarship promotes organ and tissue donation as an important
social responsibility. All students are eligible, but those planning
careers in health related occupations are expecially encouraged to
apply. Students must send an entry form and original 500 word essay on
"How Can I Save a Life? The Plight of Donation in the Multicultural Community."
Postmark deadline is March 1, 2009. Entry forms and essays must be

Alzheimer's Awareness College Scholarship - To
apply for this $5,000 scholarship, students must plan to enter an
accredited four-year college/university within 12 months of the
scholarship deadline. Applicants must write a 1,200 to 1,500 word
essay that answers How has Alzheimer's disease changed or impacted your
life? and What have you learned about yourself, your family and/or your
community in the face of coping with Alzheimer's disease? Postmark

K.B.W.23 Scholarship - This award is in honor of Kyle
Wilson (9/2/1991-10/28/2008). This is for male students planning to
attend a college/university during the fall, 2009 semester. Must have
a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Applications are available in the OCA.

Simon Youth Foundation Scholarship - This is a
one-time award of up to $1,500 to high school seniors living in a
community within an hour of a Simon Mall, who plan to attend a two or
four-year institution. Applications can be obtained by visiting Guest
Services at Century III Mall, Ross Park Mall, and South Hills Village
Mall or online at www.syf.org. Deadline is January 31, 2009.
Princeton Prize in Race Relations - Each year the
Princeton Prize in Race Relations, a program sponsored by Princeton
University, seeks to honor students in grades 9-11 who are doing
outstanding work in their schools or communities to advance the cause
of race relations. Students are invited to apply for a $1,000 cash
award. Winners will also be invited to an all expense paid trip to
Princeton University to attend the Princeton Prize Symposium of Race
which will be held in the spring of 2009. Applications are available
in the Office of Collegiate Affairs. Deadline is January 31, 2009.
Burger King Scholars - These awards are for $1,000
each. Students must be high school seniors who maintain a cumulative
GPA of 2.5 or higher, must work part-time an average of 15 hours per
week or 40 weeks per year, be actively involved in community service
activities, demonstrate financial need, and plan to enroll in an
accredited two or four-year college, university or vocational/technical

American Planning Association High School Essay Contest -
The topic for this essay contest is Develop a Historic Preservation
Plan. The award is $5,000. Two winners will receive a $5,000
scholarship to the college or university of their choice and will also
be invited to attend one of APA's National Planning Conferences. Ten
honorable mention contestants will each receive a $100 gift certificate
to APA's PlanningBooks.com. This is for students who are high school
juniors or seniors during the 2008-09 academic year. Deadline is

McKelvey Foundation Entrepreneurial Scholarship -
This is for high school seniors who have demonstrated entrepreneurial
spirit by owning and operating their own business while in high
school. To qualify, students must be graduating from high school in
2009, must be attending a four-year college within the 50 states, own
and operate a genuine business, non-profits are eligible, have at least
one paid employee, and complete the online application by January 25,
2009. This is for up to $10,000 per academic year for four years to

Ron Brown Scholar Program - This program seeks to
identify students who will make contributions to society. This is
reserved for Black or African-American high school seniors and may be
used at accredited four-year institutions. Applicants must excel
academically, show exceptional leadership potential and make an impact
on their communities through service to others. Applications are
available in the OCA. Students who apply by the November 1
(postmarked) deadline are considered for the Ron Brown Scholar Program
AND will have their application information forwarded to a select and
limited number of additional scholarship providers. Students applying
