Register for Parent Conferences
Parent Conferences are Monday, November 3rd and Tuesday, November 4th from 12:00-8:00 p.m. The high school teachers meet with parents individually. There are no team conferences. This year we will be trying a new and more efficient way to schedule your conferences utilizing an online scheduling program. Visit the link below to register for a conference. Online scheduling opened on October 20 and closes on October 29, 2014, at 11:55 p.m.

Financial Aid Night - October 22
Attention Junior and Senior Parents and Students: Please join us on Wednesday, Oct. 22 for Financial Aid Night. The program begins at 7 p.m. in the QVHS auditorium. Mrs. Kelly Frank, director of collegiate affairs, along with Marian Hargrave, a representative from PHEAA (Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency), will host an information session giving families an opportunity to get answers to any questions about financial aid forms and applications, grants, scholarships, loans and the various types of financial aid available. 

University of Pittsburgh Health Career Scholars Academy
The University of Pittsburgh Health Career Scholars Academy has replaced the Pa. Governor’s School For Health Care and is now accepting applications for summer 2015. The program is open to current sophomores and juniors. The residential four-week academy has maintained the high quality Governor’s School experience but is no longer full scholarship as a result of state budget cuts. The cost is $2,700. The application deadline is Feb. 16, 2015, but students are encouraged to apply early. For more info, visit www.hcsa.pitt.edu or see Dr. Conlon. 

Pennsylvania School for Global Entrepreneurship
The Pa. School for Global Entrepreneurship has replaced the similar Governor’s School and will be held this summer at Lehigh University. Applications are now being accepted from current sophomores and juniors and are due by Feb. 16, 2015. The residential four-week academy has maintained the high quality Governor’s School experience but is no longer full scholarship as a result of state budget cuts. The cost is $3,450. Wrestling Sign-ups
Sign-ups are now available at the Athletic Office for all high students that want to wrestle this year as part of our co-op program with Moon Area High School. The wrestling season starts Nov. 17 and is a winter sport.

Interested in joining the award winning Science Olympiad team? We are looking for team members and coaches for the 14-15 school year! All are welcome to join the team. QVHS Math League
Do Math. Eat Pizza. Beat Other Schools. Join the Math League! QV Math League is open to all 9-12th graders who love math. Competitions are once a month and last until 4-4:30. Quaker Writing Studio Now Available
The Quaker Writing Studio at the high school is now available for student appointments. Student advisers are available before, during and after the school day in the high school library to aid in all stages of the writing process. This new program is designed to assist students as they work through specific assignments or practice writing skills in need of improvement. Students interested in scheduling a 20-minute writing session should contact the student director, Rebecca Johnston, at writingstudio@qvmail.org.

Sophomore Personal Projects
Sophomore Personal Projects are underway with students working through the approval process. Students should contact Dr. Conlon in person or via email to schedule an appointment to finalize Personal Project proposals and begin working. Mentors will be assigned in late October/early November and the final due date is March 27, 2015. For more information, visit the Personal Project website.

Education Foundation accepting scholarship applications
The FRIENDS OF QUAKER VALLEY SCHOOLS Education Foundation is offering up to five, $4,000 post-high school scholarships to eligible Quaker Valley High School students.
