Dress Up Days for Veterans: October 28-30
Dress up days to support wounded warriors at Boulder Crest Retreat. A donation will be collected each day. Proceeds will be donated to Boulder Crest Retreat to aid wounded warriors during our Veterans Day program on Nov. 11. view flyer

Wednesday, Oct. 29 - Camouflage Day (wear camouflage, or green/gray/black colors)
Thursday, Oct. 30 - Support Your Team Day (wear favorite branch of the military or favorite team)
Fall Festival - October 31
Osborne's Fall Festival takes place on Friday, October 31. The parade around the Osborne track begins at 9:30 a.m., followed by classroom parties from 10:00-11:00 a.m. October 31 is also an early release day. Students are dismissed at 11:50 a.m. read fall festival letter
Parent Conferences November 3 & 4
Parents conferences take place on Monday, November 3 and Tuesday, November 4 from 12:00-8:00 PM. Registration has now closed. If you were unable to register, please contact the school office at 412-749-4003. You will receive an email reminder two days before your scheduled conference.
Remake Learning Digital Corps
Quaker Valley Middle School will host eight Remake Learning Digital Corps sessions beginning Monday, Oct. 20, 2014. The weekly workshops, open to all area students age 9 and up, will be offered from 3:45-5:15 p.m. on the following Mondays: Oct. 20 and 27; Nov. 10, 17 and 24; and Dec. 8, 15 and 22. read more
History Bowl 2014
Four Quaker Valley teams competed in the History Bowl at the Senator John Heinz History Center on October 28, 2014. Osborne sent a team of fifth graders: Zachary Buhr, Tommaso Floro, Owen Petronick, and Wyatt Riker. They competed against students from schools throughout Allegheny County. While exploring the History Center, each team was challenged to find answers to questions, think and write creatively, and practice problem solving abilities. The exhibits they explored included: Pittsburgh’s Lost Steamboat: Treasures of the Arabia; Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum; Special Collections; and Heinz.
Storywalk - November 8 at Edgeworth Elementary
Kindergarten is busy preparing for another fun Storywalk and we would love to have you attend. The storywalk is open to the community on Saturday, Nov. 8 from 10 a.m. to noon at Edgeworth Elementary. We have five different stories as well as activities geared toward children between the ages of 3 - 8. Every child that attends also gets to select a book to take home. Veterans Day Program - November 11
Osborne will honor our veterans on Veterans Day, Tuesday, Nov, 11, with a program that begins at 1 p.m. and social afterward for our veterans and their guests. If you or a family member have served or are currently serving our country in the armed forces, we would be honored if you can share a part of this important day with our students. We will be sending home information in the near future. The school’s focus will be helping wounded warriors.
Family Supper & Fun Night - November 14
The Osborne Family Supper & Family Fun Night is set for 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14. Look for details to be sent home later in October. Enjoy a wonderful pizza dinner with vegetables grown from the school garden. The family supper is hosted by the Osborne gARTen club. Enjoy activities and fitness programs with Mr. Noyes and the HSA.
Pumpkin Stacking Challenge - Now through November 21
Collect non-expired Box Tops and Labels for Education. For every 20 points, the class will earn a pumpkin to stack. The class with the highest stack of pumpkins wins a reward party! Contest ends Nov. 21.
Giant Eagle Apples for the Students Program Now Underway
Giant Eagle Apples for the Students program helps Osborne earn points towards free computers, software, audio/visual equipment, and playground equipment for our students every time you shop at Giant Eagle. The program runs from October 1 through March 31. Please register your Giant Eagle Advantage Card and help Osborne earn points. If you registered your card last year, you do not have to do so again. However, you must use your Advantage Card when you shop at Giant Eagle. For more information about the program, visit the Giant Eagle Apples for the Students website.
