Register for Parent Conferences
Parent-teacher conferences are planned for February 15 from 12:00-8:00 p.m. and February 16 from 8:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. Parents will schedule conferences through an online scheduling program. If you would like to schedule a conference, use the following web address to access the Parent-Teacher conference page: www.myconferencetime.com/osborne. Writer's Workshop Begins on February 4
Writer's Workshop will be held on after school on Thursdays, February 4-25, from 3:30-4:50 p.m. A flyer with sign-up information was sent home.
Valentine's Parties February 12
Osborne Valentine's parties are on Friday, February 12 from 2:15-3:15. Students are encouraged to bring valentines to share with their classmates. Please note: to ensure safety, students are NOT permitted to attach any type of food or candy to their paper valentines. Edible valentine treats cannot be shared with classmates. Students may bring in or attach non-edible items such as pencils, erasers, notebooks, etc. to their valentines.

Spelling Bee Results
Congratulations to 5th grader Amelia Kain who is Osborne's Spelling Bee Champion. She emerged as our winner in round 14 by correctly spelling the word "excursion". Bravo to all of our 4th and 5th graders who courageously competed on January 29. Amelia will now advance to the Regional Spelling Bee at Robert Morris University on March 12. read more
Great Kindness Challenge
Thank you to everyone who participated in the great kindness challenge. We are still accepting donations of gum, mints, hard candy, gummy candy, playing cards, and travel-sized toiletry items (non-aerosol) to send to over 700 U.S. soldiers from the 82nd Engineer Battalion who are currently serving in Kuwait.
Lab Ratz Held Tuesdays through February 9

Lab Ratz Science Club is held on Tuesdays from 3:45-4:45 p.m. through February 9, 2016. Students will explore and discover various science principles through a fun and engaging experience. more information / registration form

Incoming Kindergarten Parent Meeting: Feb. 17 at Osborne
Parents of incoming kindergarten students for 2016-17 are encouraged to attend an orientation meeting at 6:30 p.m. on February 17 at Osborne Elementary School to learn more information about Quaker Valley's kindergarten program. Attendees will receive a registration packet to complete in advance of the Kindergarten Roundup appointment. The evening orientation is an adult-only event.
Kindergarten Roundup For 2016-2017: Feb. 22-26 at Edgeworth
Kindergarten Roundup for the 2016-2017 school year is scheduled for February 22-26, 2016 at Edgeworth Elementary School. Prospective kindergarten students and their parents or caregivers are urged to attend Kindergarten Roundup. Children who will be five years old on or before September 1 can be registered for kindergarten during Roundup. Parents or caregivers should make appointments for one of the days by calling Diane Hess at the Quaker Valley School District Office, 412-749-5095. more info & brochures
5th Grade Drama - February 25
Osborne 5th Grade Drama Club presents "The Grunch: A New Children's Musical" on February 25 at 7:00 p.m. in the gym. All are invited to attend.
Geography Bee Results
Thomas Ellis, a fifth grade student, was named School Champion in the school-level competition of the National Geographic Bee on Friday, January 8, 2016. The school Bees, at which students answered questions on geography, was the first round in the 28th annual National Geographic Bee. Thomas was among 23 fourth and fifth grade students who had qualified from a classroom competition to participate in the school Bee. Second place winner was fifth grader Noah Jordan. Timmy Burda, also grade 5, took third place.
